And as far as beauty pageants are concerned, the recently concluded Miss Universe pageant was proof enough how passionate we are for such, a passion greatly rewarded that after 42 years, a Filipina has been crowned Miss Universe in the person of Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. A Christmas Food Festival at Maginhawa
It’s been a long while since the Urban Roamer last visited the then emerging food strip along Maginhawa Street, which traverses the neighborhoods of Sikatuna Village and Teachers Village. Since then, many things have changed in the neighborhood as business grew even more in the area with more restaurants opening up and more food choices being offered. Thus, it was but proper that the Urban Roamer revisit this bustling area. And what better opportunity to do so than an event that was held last December 12 throughout the length of Maginhawa Street, the Quezon City Food Festival.

Pissed at Pasig
Pardon for the strong language (not to mention the stronger language to follow) in this piece. But I just have to air my frustration and contempt against the Pasig City Government over their “event” they held last Sunday night and the grave inconvenience it has caused. Then again, “inconvenience” is an understatement itself. The cause of this inconvenience? It turns out it was an annual Christmas activity of the Pasig City Government called the Paskotitap in which colorful and brightly lighted floats parade around the streets of Pasig, a tradition that was only started in 2006 from what I can gather. Christmas in the City 2015: Beating the Holiday Traffic
For many of us denizens of this crazy (in ways both good and bad) metropolis, the Christmas season is something we look forward to each year. What we don’t look forward to though is the traffic, traffic whose intensity is a red as the color of the Christmas lights or Santa Claus’ outfit.
