It’s been a while since the Urban Roamer touched upon the landmark that was the Manila Seedling Bank. Since that last update, the Quezon City government shut the facility down for good with the former plant dealers relocated elsewhere, notably at a spot in the Quezon Memorial Circle called the “Hardin ng mga Bulaklak” or garden of flowers. And what a coincidence that the initials of Hardin ng mga Bulaklak and that of the Quezon City mayor at this time of writing is eerily the same. Wow, amazing. It Will Be Sangley (An Airport Update)
The Department of Transportation and Communication has just spoken: the new Manila International Airport will be built in Sangley Point in Cavite City. This announcement came on the heels of the recently-released report of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) which recommended that the new airport be built in the area, something the Urban Roamer has touched upon in a recent post. And it seems the DOTC is intent on following that particular recommendation.

Beyond the Mass Transit: The (Planned) Alternative Transport Options for Metro Manila
I don’t know what’s with this particular time of year, but so much news has been going out about plans for more public transportation options for an increasingly-congested metropolis. Something that is more than welcome if only to help alleviate the worsening traffic situation on the streets. Given the propensity these days of the government to make press releases that they are planning this and that, (just so they can have a “legacy” to leave behind before the end of their term in two years time) let us keep in mind that for now, they are just that: plans. Sarah G Sings About Manila
At the recent Miss Manila 2014 beauty pageant coronation night last Araw ng Maynila, (congratulations by the way to the winner, Krischelle Halili) a number by Sarah Geronimo, one of the Philippines’ most popular artists created as much buzz as the event itself. Partly I suppose was due to her sheer professionalism that she showed despite the technical glitches that occurred during that number. But I’d like to think that the song she sang played a big factor as well, a song entitled “Dito sa Manila.”
