We have read and seen too many sad stories of urban decay, especially here in the metropolis. Because of this, there has been this lingering sense of hopelessness with the disorder and chaos that we see around the city. That being said, any story that offers positive developments and give a sense of hope that things can be done to at least mitigate the chaos is very much welcome. Like the developments going on at Ortigas Center…the Pasig part of it at least.

Two New Malls in the East
Pasig in the eastern portion of Metro Manila has been, by large, a traditionally residential and industrial hub. And for a long while, it had a problem with regards to the commercial activity. Up until the 2000s, commercial development was largely confined to the Pasig side of the business district that is Ortigas Center. Come to think of it, the Pasig is not getting much from Ortigas Center as far as commercial activity is concerned since Mandaluyong and Quezon City got the “better parts” of the CBD, so to speak. Pasig Cathedral: The Historic Catholic Bastion of East Metro Manila
As has been established here in the Urban Roamer, Pasig is one of the few cities in Metro Manila whose old town center is still quite intact as far as the layout and the presence of heritage in the area. As far as heritage is concerned, perhaps the most prominent heritage landmark of the old Pasig town center is its church, officially known as the Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Pasig, but more popularly known as the Pasig Cathedral, the oldest structure in Pasig.
