The NBA Store Manila, AKA the City’s New Hoops Haven

In the midst of the Christmas rush the metropolis has been going through as of late, a new retail store just opened early December that has made the shopping landscape in the city a bit more interesting in time for the Yuletide season. It was the opening of the NBA Store Manila, the official retail store of the US professional basketball league the NBA or National Basketball Association. The NBA Store Manila holds the distinction of being the first NBA Store to open in Southeast Asia, as well as for being the largest NBA Store outside the US that has opened. Just goes to show how much Filipinos love the NBA…

    Mi BellySima at Glorietta

There’s something about Mercato Centrale and its ventures in the Makati CBD area that do not seem to last that long. I dunno but it seems the folks behind Mercato have yet to find that formula for success in this part of the city that it has been enjoying in its homebase at the Bonifacio Global City as well as in its Mezza Norte venture in Quezon City, which is a shame since there were some innovative concepts involved. Nevertheless, that has not stopped them from trying to capture that elusive Makati area market as it has recently unveiled its new venture there, the BellySima.

Christmas in the City 2014: the Christmas spectacle at Ayala Triangle

If you live in the urban landscape of Metropolitan Manila, especially if you frequent the Makati Central Business District area, you know that the Christmas season is in the air when you see the Ayala Triangle Park dressed up in those shining, dancing, multi-colored lights that have become a yearly Yuletide attraction. The tradition lives on this year as the  Ayala Triangle Christmas lights and sound show formally opened last November 12 to delight spectators anew and remind everyone that Christmas is upon us once more and it is time to get excited/stressed yet again.

The Case of Makati’s Missing Cemetery

As far as the Urban Roamer’s knowledge was concerned, there was a smaller cemetery located right next to Manila South Cemetery, the Makati Cemetery in the city’s Barangay Valenzuela. So after roaming Manila South Cemetery, I decided to walk on and check out Makati Cemetery… Only to find out it was actually closed, which was weird considering that cemeteries are not usually closed to the public unless something was up. It was only recently that I got the full story.
