BGC Greenway Park: Metro Manila’s Longest Linear Park (for now)

If there’s one thing going for Bonifacio Global City (BGC), it’s that it has ample spaces for sidewalks and open spaces that makes it conducive for those living, working, and visiting the district despite the lack of public transport options.

One of the most prominent ones is the one located at the western end of the business district and is touted to be the longest linear park in Metro Manila: the BGC Greenway Park.

Inaugurated in October 2016, this linear park stretches from the parking area of the BGC buses near 31st Street, running parallel to the eastern perimeter wall of the Manila Golf Club, crossing McKinley Road and going on until it reaches the intersection with 21st Drive.

However, only the stretch from the northern end to the part before it crosses McKinley Road is the more developed part of the park, where the path is more paved and there are benches, better-looking streetlights and even an amphitheater. Here’s hoping the portion from McKinley Road to the southern end gets more developed to be on par with the other portion of the park.

Owing to the green landscape, the presence of trees, and a rolling terrain, the BGC Greenway Park is a popular spot for joggers, bikers and people who seek to work out or have an active lifestyle. It helps that its location behind the tall buildings in the are and somewhat far removed from the BGC road network makes it a conducive spot to relax amid the greens.

Overall, the BGC Greenway Park runs at 1.6 km, currently the longest linear park in Metro Manila. For now at least until the vision of the Pasig River Urban Development Project has been fully realized.

On a personal note, the Urban Roamer was actually invited to the opening of the park back in October 2016 but personal matters prevented me from attending. My belated thanks to Erwin dela Cruz of CID Communications for extending that invite.
