It was that time of the year once again. And for bibliophiles like the Urban Roamer, it was an event not to be missed as always. Yup, it’s the Manila International Book Fair once more, held once again at the SMX Convention Center. The 35th edition of this one-of-a-kind trade fair showcased literature in various formats, from traditional print to the modern digital format from a number of publishers and book sellers in the country. We are often reminded that we should not be foreign to our native land, (translated from the local saying “huwag maging dayuhan sa sariling bayan”) emphasizing the importance of being able to at least appreciate the sights and sounds that our country has to offer. Last July 16-20, the SMX Convention Center near the SM Mall of Asia served as host for what is dubbed as “the biggest franchise event in Asia,” the annual Franchise Asia Philippines.
