Grand Buffet Dining at Manila’s Grand Dame: Cafe Ilang-Ilang at Manila Hotel

It’s been a long while since the Urban Roamer has last stepped in Manila Hotel. And during that time, a lot of things have changed: a new logo, new uniforms of the staff. But the ambiance of old Manila remains alive in the hotel.

My return that day though was for a somewhat different matter, which was to fully immerse myself in a filling buffet dining experience at the hotel’s main restaurant: Cafe Ilang-Ilang.

For one, I’ve always loved that the restaurant was strategically located near the poolside and by the view of the side of Manila Bay, which means guests at the restaurant get to enjoy a relaxing atmosphere, as well as get to see the famed beauty that is the Manila Bay sunset as dusk sets in.

Then there is the restaurant itself which exudes a classy ambiance that sets the mood for a fun, relaxing break enjoying the variety of delicacies and treats being served.

Oh yes, the food. For lunch that day, the restaurant served a variety of Filipino, Asian, European, and American dishes. The Filipino dishes served that day was so Filipino, there is even balut, which is rare to see even in a buffet restaurant that serves Filipino dishes among others.

balut anyone?
or some Pinoy street food for that matter?

The variety of the menu is not as extensive as other buffet restaurants would offer. But that is not to say it is a bad thing. Simply put, the food served there is great thanks to the preparation being done by the chefs.

So if you found yourself staying at Manila Hotel, or just enjoy a sumptuous buffet dining experience in the city itself, Cafe Ilang-Ilang is a place the Urban Roamer highly recommends you check out. For more information, visit their website at www.manila-hotel.com.ph/cafe-ilang-ilang.
