It has been a long while since the Urban Roamer joined a food tour. So I was fortunate and excited to take part in a food tour again. Never mind if the place where the tour will be held is very much far away from the usual haunts. In this case, the far south of the metropolis in the Alabang Town Center area.
This particular food tour is actually the latest edition in the series food tours being held since last year called the “Good Food Tour”. This tour series is organized by foodpanda, an online food delivery service that delivers food from various partner restaurants. Each Good Food Tour event offers something different. For this edition, being the month of love and all, the food tour was all about desserts. This is going to be sweet.
The first stop of the tour was at Bizu Patisserie. The establishment hosted our group by treating us with samples of their cakes they are offering specially for Valentines. The table I was at was treated with a sampling of their cake called “Pleasure” which contained layers of pistachio ganache, chocolate bavaroise, with chocolate biscuit, milk chocolate disk, raspberry compote, rose perfume.
In addition, they also gave us some take home treats, a pack of their specialty salted egg macaroons.
Afterwards, it was time for some ice cream. So we headed to the stall of Cold Stone Creamery just a few meters away. Admittedly, I used to think it was just some ice cream store, but the visit was quite an eye-opener. For one, they really do serve their ice cream fresh and not just scoop and serve like many ice cream stores do. In fact, they prepare their ice cream over a frozen granite stone, hence its name “Cold Stone”.
Then there’s the crew who themselves provide entertainment. They do dance moves and participate in games with their customers such as that game where the customers need to catch the ice cream they’ll throw.
We headed afterwards to what would be the last stop of the tour, at Paper Moon Cafe, outside the main mall premises. There we were treated to an overload of sweet delicacies, from its signature crepes to the refreshing drinks. We were also fortunate to have been one of the first ones to try out its new offering: Paper Moon Cafe’s red velvet cake.
Overall, it was a great Good Food Tour that I was fortunate to be part of. I can’t wait for the next edition of the tour which I hope to take part of again!
Thank you to foodpanda Philippines for organizing the tour and for the invite, as well as to Bizu Patisserie-Alabang Town Center, Cold Stone Creamery-Alabang Town Center, and Paper Moon Cafe-Alabang Town Center for accommodating me and the rest of the tour participants!
