Roamer tidbits

FAME’s Bloggers Night 2014

It was the time of the year once again for Christmas parties, and the Urban Roamer was fortunate to have been invited by FAME Publishing for this year’s party for bloggers, an event called “Holiday Delights.”

My thanks to the people at FAME Publishing not only for inviting me to grace this special event, but also holding such an event that recognizes bloggers.

Thanks as well to the partners who helped make the event possible, such as Goldilocks who served their delicious barbecue and pancit palabok to the guests.

Tupperware was also there to hand with a demonstration on how to make some homemade tiramisu courtesy of notable chef Nancy Reyes-Lumen.

Walter Bread was there to give us some of their products like the whole wheat and high fiber bread. In addition, Walter Co, Walter Bread’s president was at the event to introduce a new venture, Japan’s famous cheesecake franchise Uncle Tetsu. We were fortunate to be given a sample, which actually tastes like soft, melt-in-your-mouth mamon.

Trianon, Beptide, and Australia Harvest have booths in the venue as well to showcase their products.

Speaking of venue, this year’s Bloggers Night was held at a fairly new hotel and events place, the Green Sun located along Chino Roces Avenue in Makati.

It was actually built in the 1970s as the corporate office of the Solid Group which manufactured electronics before venturing into its current core business, the mobile phone brand MyPhone. While they still hold office in the building, the rest of the space was converted into a hotel and events place designed with an influence of contemporary art and architecture in mind.

As such, it is slowly becoming a popular venue not only for art exhibits, but also for other events like fashion events and even a beauty contest as the recent Miss Earth 2014 coronation night was held here.

On a macro level, the development of Green Sun also reflects the greater development in the area around it, which deserves a separate entry soon.
