LTFRB and its “Uber” Dumb Move

There is nothing like government trying to mess up something that has been running pretty much fine, all in the name of “public welfare”, “doing its (supposed) mandate”, or whatever it may be. That surely was the line that the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) used in defending its latest move, cracking down on the mobile-based ride sharing transport service Uber this week, beginning with a sting operation against an Uber vehicle. And what is the LTFRB’s reason as to why they are going after Uber? Because it does not have a franchise that public utility vehicles should have in order for them to carry passengers.

    Blogapalooza 2014: A Field Report (Part 2)

Part 1 here Blogapalooza is also the venue for some interesting business ideas. One of them is this guy who was roaming around the venue as the Walking Photobooth, He’s a roaming photographer and photobooth in one who shoots and prints your photos in minutes. There is also this interesting photo booth courtesy of Imagine Nation Photography which takes you on a journey on a hot air balloon as a way to show the vibrant and creative vibe the studio employs in its photography and videography.

    Blogapalooza 2014: A Field Report (Part 1)

Blogapalooza 2014 just happened last October 11 at the SMX Convention Center Taguig at SM Aura, and the Urban Roamer was fortunate to be there for the 2nd year in a row.  You can check out here my field report from last year. This year saw a bigger venue, with more exhibitors showcasing their products, offers, and what have you to various bloggers. Congratulations are in order to Vince Golangco and folks at When In Manila for yet another successful holding of Blogapalooza this year and here’s hoping next year’s event would be as fun, if not even more fun than this year’s. There is so much to talk about…

“The Santos-Andres Ancestral House: Heritage Born Anew” on GMA News Online

It has been awhile since the Urban Roamer has written for another publication or site, but I am happy to announce that my little piece has made it to one of the leading news sites in the country, GMA News Online. My piece published there is about the Santos-Andres ancestral house, a house which was formerly located along M. Naval Street in Navotas City to a more upland location in the hills of Antipolo, near the Hinulugang Taktak and the Antipolo Cathedral, giving a new lease of life to a house that was endangered from decay and encroaching urbanization in Navotas.
